In Response to Paul
Paul ~ I own a book written by Shelley Tayor titled " Positive Illusions: Creative Self-Deception and the Healthy Mind" in which she states, that none of us is in touch with absolute reality and we can't possibly know what forces beyond our control would affect our lives. Because of this fear that has no actual basis, we construe future events that promote happiness and success than one that portends failure. Many believe in Shelley Taylor's theories of positive illusions in dealing with physical illness and stress. It would only makes sense that we create positive illusions to help us cope with our everyday environment. But, does that mean if we are inappropriately happy then we have created such an inappropriate world of positive illusions, we can never experience reality? Moreover, does it mean if we destroy these illusions, then we are destined to find life bleek and miserable which will inevitably lead to depression?
