Study Questions for Norman, The Moral Philosophers, Chapter 11
1. In Norman’s discussion of Hare’s defense of utilitarianism (pp.180-185) try to understand:
a. Hare’s logical argument for utilitarianism and
b. How utilitarians draw conclusions about what to do in specific cases (The examples are helpful for this.)
2. Try to deepen your understanding of utilitarianism, by seeing how it is different from each of the views Norman describes in pp.185-201.
